Re: DIALOGUE
In Response To: DIALOGUE ()

Mark -- and MJ!

I, too, have always been quite fond of Dialogue! The song was so beautiful, so lyrical, so unsurpassable that I'm almost afraid to even suggest this idea, but here goes:

In recent years, MJ has re-recorded some of his earlier songs, giving them a whole new interpretation by using a different tempo or different instrumentation. BOTH versions of the song are equally perfect: neither is better than the other, just different.

Because I love Dialogue SOOO MUCH, I have this dream in my heart that someday MJ will re-record the song, this time in a true "dialogue" format. Can you just imagine MJ paired with one of Nashville's better female voices (Suzy Bogguss, perhaps)??? In my mind, the duet goes something like this:

(SHE) Stranded in a waiting room, he turns to her,
(HE) How do you do
I know the book you're reading, and I've always like his point of view
I'm flying out of here to somewhere I have been
Set out to find it years ago and I'm finally heading in

(SHE) Have you been to France, I hear it's wonderful this time of year
Have you really seen the English countryside, do people ride
All I've ever seen is Houston, it's flat and rainy and rich
And California on my own and neither one quite fits

(HE) He has got the world to give
(SHE) and she is on her own
(BOTH)Together they can show each other what they cannot see alone

(BOTH)Cancel all your reservations, it's a now or never stand
Final call and off they go, leaving hand in hand

(HE) And he has got the world to give
(SHE) and she can bring him home
(BOTH)Together they can show each other what they cannot see alone
(HE) He has got the world to give
(SHE) and she an bring him home
(BOTH)Together they can show each other what they cannot see alone

(HE) He turns to her

*****

Just a thought....
