A fan in Germany ...
Hi all, I occasionally visit Michael's website and most times any of his CDs is running on my stereo. However, when I read the messages of this board I decided to share my personal story about becoming a fan of Michael with you, from a German music lover's point of view. I recall that the first album I ever bought was "The Michael Johnson Album" on the Spanish island Tenerife. I read on the cover that it was produced by Brent Maher and Steve Gibbons, that's what triggered the purchase. I think I was no old than 16 y.o. at the time. I think the album wasn't much more than US$ 2, converted from Spanish pesetas. Anyway, I loved the album when I listened to it back home. Not just the single "Bluer Than Blue", but also "Sailing Without A Sail" and all the other great songs contained on it.
Back home in Berlin I despertaly tried to find out more about this gorgeous singer in the subsequent months. At the time we had a store which was specialised in importing country albums from the US. Not having a driving license at the time I went all through the city by bus just to get to this store, and I was happy to place my order with these guy. This is how it came to the purchase of the first three albums which arrived one or two months later. In the early 80s, "Wings" and "That's That" popped up as regular CD releases on the German market. Needless to say, I never thought twice about purchsing them.
Today I can say that I own all of Michael's albums on CD and I even have a signed photograph which I'm very proud of. As a regular visitor to the US I hope I'll have a chance to see him sometime in the future on a live conert. I have tuned many people to his music and everyone loves him. I just wanted to let Michael and you all know how much joy he brought to so many people's lives.
