Re: MJ Story - Study in E Minor

I'm certain it was an attempt to minimize the finger squeaks, usually caused by the wound strings and more apparent when there are a lot of fast position shifts for the left hand. (The Study in E Minor is full of them!). Classical guitarist Christopher Parkening's dad was so bothered by them that he would sand the wound strings on Christopher's guitar to try to cut down on he squeaks. It worked...sort of. Michael told me about one of the first classical guitars he bought, whose label inside said "Handmade in Spain." He later found out the guitar was factory made in Japan. Michael emphasized "I found out even later that the guitar LABEL was handmade in Spain!"
