Re: Our dear Michael
In Response To: Our dear Michael ()

Mike Johnson was not only a consummate entertainer but a kind and gentle man . I met him in the early '60's in Kent, Ohio at "The Blind Owl" where I was the emcee. Because of difficulties with hemophilia, he "left the road" and lived with Duane Hartzell, Tom Burrows, and myself while he recovered. Mike played at The Rendezvous Hotel in Southport, Maine in 1966 (?) after I introduced him to the owners. I never saw Mike give anything but his best to his friends or audiences. He was the most dedicated and professional musician I've ever met. I am so fortunate to have known him and to have called him my friend. Our world is not the same without him. I will miss him. I look forward to celebrating his life with other friends in August.
