Like an old friend

Hearing about Michael's passing was like hearing about the death of an old friend, though I never met him personally. But I heard him live at least half a dozen times at venues in Minnesota--the first time at the Virginia High School auditorium, up on the Range, in the fall of 1975 when I was a freshman in college and he had just released For All You Mad Musicians. There weren't many of us in the audience, unfortunately, but what an impact it made on me. He was one of the reasons I took up guitar and his music got me through a lot in college. I still listen to those early albums. Thanks, Michael, for the gift of your music and your soul. You helped make the world a better place.
